What
is Portraiture? Capturing
the essence of an individual that demands the viewer's attention to
the subject and nothing else. Seem
simple enough. Both the artist and photographer attempt to project a
three dimensional object on a two dimensional surface. The artist
paints with different shades of color to add dimension. The
photographer paints with light. Both
painter and photographer avoid busy distracting colors or light in the
background. A classical portraiture can be matted and framed to suit
the owner's taste and décor. Classical portraiture can be matted and
framed to suit the owner's taste and décor. Classical portraiture
avoids trends and fads in clothing, hair, make-up and fads in
clothing, hair, make-up and props. This does not imply plain. The viewer now and for years from now will view a classical portraiture from the soul and the mind's eye. For beauty as has been written is in the eye of the beholder
